WHY DID GOD CURSE AFRICANS? Part 3, The Covenant that Shaped History. God's blessing upon Noah's family was universal: "Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth." This command was given to all of Noah's sons—including Ham. God commanded them all to populate the earth. Then Noah's family began rebuilding the world. It is within this post-Flood setting that the event which later gave rise to centuries of misunderstanding took place. To understand it correctly, we must read the biblical text very carefully, because every detail matters. Genesis 9:20–25 says: "Noah, a man of the soil, planted a vineyard. He drank some of its wine, became drunk, and lay uncovered inside his tent. Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.....
