Skyscrapers stood like abandoned monuments to a civilization that believed it would never fall. There were no cars. No laughter. No children. Only silence. Daniel Cross slowly climbed to the roof of the world's tallest surviving building, carrying an old radio transmitter on his shoulder. Every sunrise, he performed the same ritual. "Is anyone alive?
